1. Check Hydraulic Oil Level Before Use 

Ensure the hydraulic oil level is appropriate before operation. Avoid using hydraulic components when the oil level is low, as insufficient oil allows air to enter the system. Air ingress can cause noise in hydraulic equipment and prevent the system from operating normally. In severe cases, it may lead to cavitation within the hydraulic cylinder, causing irreversible wear on the cylinder barrel and piston rod, directly shortening the cylinder’s service life.

 2. Use Clean Hydraulic Oil 

Hydraulic oil is the "lifeblood" of the hydraulic system, and its cleanliness directly affects the lifespan of components like metallurgical hydraulic cylinders. Contaminants such as metal shavings, dust, and colloidal deposits can clog internal oil passages, hinder piston movement, and cause severe abrasion to critical parts including the cylinder bore, piston seals, and guide sleeves. Therefore, always use hydraulic oil that meets specified standards, and regularly replace oil filters and hydraulic oil to ensure contamination-free fluid.

 3. Address Oil Leakage Promptly

Oil leakage is a common issue in metallurgical hydraulic cylinders. If not addressed promptly, it leads not only to wasted hydraulic oil but also reduces cylinder lifespan. Upon detecting leakage, first inspect the cylinder’s seals—such as O-rings, oil seals, and combination seals—for wear, aging, or damage. These seals are crucial for preventing leaks. Replace damaged or worn seals immediately with matching models and specifications. If leakage stems from deformation or damage to the cylinder barrel or piston rod, professional repair or replacement is required to avoid insufficient output force and ensure normal equipment operation.
